The cat takes hold of the object between its forepaws, with toes flexed and claws usually extended. The paws are held together, pads opposing, and frequently off the floor. An object may be grasped when the cat is stationary or during activity, such as following a jump towards the object. The object may then be taken to the mouth or nose.
